- The Junior Girls field hockey team played a corker of a game on Monday against PenHi in Penticton. They were scored on early, but quickly rallied with two goals by Violet Chevis. Two additional goals were scored by Arpan Gill and Ophena Pepe. Goalie Neveah Prosper had some excellent saves and the outcome was a 4-3 win for the Hornets. Way to go team!
- October 28th (next Monday) Indigenous Grade 11 & 12 students are invited to join the “Strengthening Connections” presentation alongside SESS and OSS students. Indigenous Recruiters from UVic, UBC, UBC Medical, OC, NVIT, and the RCMP will be there to answer any post-secondary questions you may have. Please see Shynai for permission forms and return by Thursday the 24th! Limlemt.
- The Hornets X-Country team travelled to Kelowna yesterday to compete in the Thompson-Okanagan Valley Championships. Our lone Jr. Girl, Madison Wornardt finished in 63rd place. The Jr. Boys team were led by Tayvon Allen 33rd place Toby Lebefve 55th Daniel Horan 58th Sohayl Khodarahmi 79th and Sam Moore 85th. The Sr. Boys team stunned the competition capturing 2nd place overall and winning the AA Valley Championship division. The team was led by Curran Davies 11th place, Thomas Horan 15th , Zach Stone 18th, Josh Allen 27th, Jesse Wyatt 49th, Jude Splane 50th, Hugo Pickell 51st, Ari Kendrick 58th, and Rocky Toon 65th. The Sr. Boys Team has qualified for the X-Country Provincial Championships in Vancouver next weekend! Way to go Hornets!
- Snack shack will be open from 10:05 - 10:20 on Wednesday and Thursday.
- Grads – there is a Halloween Event at the Fire Station coming up and they’re looking for volunteers. All proceeds will be donated to the Graduating Class. Sign-up sheets are on the window of the quiet room. Please sign up by Thursday or see Mrs. Burns if you’re interested.
- There is still time to sign-up for the haunted asylum at Oliver’s Laser Strike. Please check your times and make sure you are there for the time that you have signed up for.
- Hey SOSS – time to get your guesses in for the Halloween Candy Bucket Contest. Guess how many candies are in the bucket for your chance to win the whole big bucket of candy. 1 guess is 50 cents, 3 guesses for $1 or 5 guesses for $2. Today and tomorrow get your guesses into Ms. Wilke in the office. Next week, link crew will be back outside of the Zen Den at lunchtime. Come on SOSS get guessing!!
- It is almost Halloween. Time to get your costumes together for the annual SOSS Halloween Costume Contest. This year, to be eligible for contest, you must sign up on the sheets outside of the Zen Den – Fill in your group, and most importantly, your theme song. Let’s make this contest the best ever. Make sure you get the chance to get your moment in the spotlight.
