  1. The Halloween Colouring Contest is on! Come to the library to pick up your colouring sheets.  All entries must be handed in by October 31st. 

 

  1. The Band room is open today at lunch. 

 

  1. Hey SOSS – we are looking for anyone who is interested in helping put together this year’s Remembrance Day ceremony. This could be you if: you like history, are good with techie stuff, have good organizational skills, are comfortable being on stage, or just like giving back to your community. See Mrs. Stopa or Mrs. G if you’re interested. (** repeat Mon/Tues next week) 
     
  1. October 28th (next Monday) Indigenous Grade 11 & 12 students are invited to join the “Strengthening Connections” presentation alongside SESS and OSS students. Indigenous Recruiters from UVic, UBC, UBC Medical, OC, NVIT, and the RCMP will be there to answer any post-secondary questions you may have. Please see Shynai for permission forms and return by Thursday the 24th! Limlemt. (Please keep on all week!) 

 

  1. Outdoor Club is starting up again and teacher Jenny will be organizing outdoor adventures on a monthly basis throughout the school year.  The club is open to grade 8 and 9 students.  Grade 10 students will be invited if space is available.  The first club activity is coming up next Wednesday, October 30th.  Teacher Jenny is organizing a morning hike at Mahoney Lake.  If you are in grade 8 or 9, and are interested in attending, see Mr. Willms in the counselling office for a permission form.  Space fills quickly so get your form in to reserve your spot! 

 

  1. Snack shack will be open from 10:05 - !0:20 on Wednesday and Thursday. 

 

  1. Congratulations to the Senior girls volleyball team for their crowd crushing defeats over both Princeton and Keremeos last night.  Way to go Hornets!! 

 

  1. Literacy Assessments will be held next week for grade 10 and 12 students. Be sure to find your name on the session lists posted by the office. See Mrs. Koffler if you have any questions. 

 

  1. We will be celebrating October birthdays on Monday, October 28 at lunch in the counselling area. Please come and enjoy a special treat.
