SOUTHERN OKANAGAN SECONDARY SCHOOL

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 27, 2024

  1. Volleyball Referee Clinic – Students in Grade 10-12 as well as, Staff, who are interested in becoming certified volleyball referees are invited to attend a referee clinic hosted by a Nationally certified referee on Tuesday, Oct 1st and Thursday, October 3rd at Pen Hi. This clinic is a mandatory part of the certification process. The cost of the clinic is only $20/ person. If you are interested in making some money as a referee, please sign up for the clinic with Mr Pod today.

  1. Work Experience students – all of your BEFORE PLACEMENT assignments must be handed in by TODAY or you’ll be at risk of being withdrawn from the course. Check Teams for any messages about missing assignments.

  1. Do you sing in the shower like a rockstar? Dance like nobody’s watching (but secretly hope someone is)? Or maybe your talent is juggling flaming torches (okay, let’s keep that one safe)? Whatever your superpower is—whether you're a performer, athlete, artist, or someone who can do the moonwalk while playing the flute—we want YOU!

Our 1st school talent showcase of the year is coming up. We’re looking for brave souls to share their amazing skills with the world (or, you know, a gym full of your friends and teachers). So, dust off your dance shoes, warm up those vocal cords, or get your artwork ready! Our showcase assemblies will also feature sport and community reports. If you are interested in being a school sportscaster or community reporter, we want to hear from you!

If you want to be part of this, please sign up on the fishbowl window across from Mrs. Schori’s room by Friday, Oct 4th. Remember: the more talents, the more fun, and the less chance of us relying on Mr. Burn’s “magic” tricks again.

  1. Grade 12’s - Need some help with your applications to Post-Secondary institutions? Don’t know where to start? There will be an Application information meeting today at lunch in Room 109b. Bring your lunch and your questions.

  1. CLC 12 students – don't forget that your first assignment is due today on Teams! See Mrs. Russo or Mrs. Burns with any questions.

  1. The junior girls volleyball team travelled to Keremeos where they played the Sparks and the Princeton Rapids. Both games went to a third set but after some intense rallies, the girls were victorious. Way to go hornets you buzzed them out.

  1. Just a reminder that the Sr. Girls volleyball team is hosting their home tournament this weekend. The girls will be setting up the gyms during the first 2 blocks of the day. Come out and see some volleyball this weekend.
