SOUTHERN OKANAGAN SECONDARY SCHOOL

  1. Today in the Caf it is Poutine and Creamy Pumpkin Soup and tomorrow is Pizza day. 

 

  1. Call out to all boys wanting to play Jr. or Sr. Ultimate this spring. Tryouts will be Monday after school outside next week from 3:00 – 5:00. Bring cleats and weather appropriate gear. Any girls wanting to play Jr. Or Sr. Ultimate, there will be a short meeting today at the start of lunch in the large gym.  

 

  1. Attention all grade 8-12 girls interested in playing soccer this season, the first practices will be next week, Monday Feb.26th at 3pm outside (top field) and then Wednesday Feb 28th.  Please dress for the weather and be prepared to be indoors with running shoes. 

 

  1. Europe Trip meeting at lunch on Friday. We will be in the library. Check Teams for additional info.  

 

  1. Grad photos take place this week in room 122. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time to sign in. If you haven’t already signed up for grad photos, see Mrs. Koffler in the office asap! 

 

  1. The Senior Boys Basketball team played their annual shoe game against PenHi last night. PenHi came out strong scoring the first couple of baskets. After this the hornets came back and controlled the tempo and lead for the rest of the game. Then late in the 4th PenHi came up with a big 3 to bring the game to within 3 points. Rajan was able to get a crucial rebound followed by making one of his free throws to keep us at a 4 point lead giving the hornets the victory. Great job boys and congratulations on bringing back the shoe trophy to SOSS. 

 

  1. Any students who submitted entries into the Legion Remembrance Day contest in the past two years and wish to keep their entries please come pick them up in the library by the end of this week or they will be recycled. 

 

  1. Beauty and the Beast performance is coming up fast!  Get your tickets on-line or from Mrs. Wolfe in the library.  This is going to be a fantastic and fun performance you do not want to miss it! 

 

  1. Junior and Senior boys group will be meeting Thursday in the gathering room. Jr’s will meet from 12:00 to 1:10 and Seniors will meet 1:15 to 2:45. Attendance to your first class is required to join group for the afternoon.  

 

  1. Course requests are now overdue.  Thank you to those of you who have submitted your choices.  We will start getting rid of classes that do not have enough interest to fill a class starting this Friday.  Grade 11 students: only 31 of you have completed your course requests and your courses are at risk of not being offered next year.  Your choices decide what we offer for classes next year, don’t be disappointed. 

 

  1. ATTENTION GRADS!!  Scholarship applications are due NEXT WEEK on February 28th.  There have only been 2 that have been submitted as of today.  These are financial opportunities that you do not want to miss out on for your post-secondary adventures.  Get your applications from the office or on-line and make sure they are handed into Mrs. Koffler in the office by no later the 3pm on Wednesday, February 28th.  That is one week from today.  There will be a Scholarship help session with Ibby and Mrs. Burns this Thursday at lunch in Room 109B. Come and get some help with those applications!  Also Check your Teams! Your Crossing the stage and Yearbook write-ups are also due February 28. Get on it Grads! 

 

  1. If you lost a phone or a hockey helmet last week, please see Mrs. Koffler in the office to identify! 

 

  1. School-wide Pancake Breakfast this Friday, February 23. Bring your appetites!
