- Hey SOSS Students, listen up, this one is for you!! Do you know someone who walks-the-walk, and talks-the-talk to inspire you or someone you know here at school? It is award season here at SOSS and we are looking to recognize those students who make our school a great place for staff and students alike. The 2022-23 Citizenship Award is open for nominations – nomination forms including the finer details and the full criteria can be found in the office with Ms. Koffler. The deadline for nomination is Friday May 19th. This is an award that has a long tradition and is held in high regard at SOSS, we ask that all nominators keep that in mind when they put names forward.
- The Sr. Hornets Ultimate team travelled to Summerland last Friday to compete in the Okanagan Zone Valley Championships. The Hornets started the day seeded 5th place and were matched up against 4th seed Westsyde. After a rough first point, the Hornets dialed it in and went on a stretch of five straight points. They dispatched Westsyde 11-4 when time was up. This set up a semifinal against top seeded Merritt Secondary. The match went back and forth with both teams holding two-point leads several times during the game. At 7-7, Merritt would go ahead. The Hornet’s lost 10-7 setting up a consolation final against Immaculata Secondary. The Hornets would make quick work of them winning 9-4. This set up a challenge match against 2nd seeded Pleasant Valley Secondary for second place. The Hornets put together a strong effort but came up short 9-4 playing in hot uncomfortable conditions against a fresher team. Finishing 3rd place has allowed the team a birth into the BC High School Ultimate Championships in Surrey on May 27th and 28. Congratulations on all your hard work this season Hornet’s and good luck at Provincials in two weeks!
