SOUTHERN OKANAGAN SECONDARY SCHOOL  

                 Thursday November 17, 2022.  

 

  1. The grade 8 girls volleyball team is hosting playoff finals tonight at 4:00. Fans come on out and support your Hornet’s! 

 

  1. Grade 8 Boys Basketball – All boys in Grade 8 who are interested in playing Grade 8 Boys Basketball are invited to the first practice of the year this Friday, November 18th from 5:30 – 7pm. 

 

  1. Jr Boys Basketball – All boys in Grade 9 and 10 interested in playing Jr Boys Basketball are invited to the first tryout tonight from 7-9:00pm.  

 

  1. Snack Shack is open every day! Come on down for a snack from 9:45 – 9:55. 

 

  1. Today and lunch the senior boys basketball team will be doing a samosa sale fundraiser in the atrium. It will be $3 for 1 and $5 for 2 and they will have chicken and vegetable options available. Come out and show your support and buy some tasty samosas. 

 

  1. This afternoon, there will be TWO presentations with the Maple Man. Grade 8 classes and their teachers will be called to the theatre at the start of Block C after attendance is taken Then in the last half of Block C, French and Foods students in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 will be called to the second presentation around 1:30. Please listen to the announcements this afternoon for the two Maple Man presentations.  

 

  1. The Night in Hollywood dance is coming up on November 24thDon’t forget to get your tickets at lunch in front of the Zen Den. Tickets are $12 for VIP and $8 for regular admission. 

 

  1. Hey Hot Chocolate Lovers...we will be going green with our morning hot chocolate. In the coming days we will be phasing out paper cups and using ceramic mugs. When you finish your hot chocolate, all you need to do is return your mug to the rack under the snack cart outside of the counseling area. You are also welcome to bring your own mug. 

 

  1. Reminder to all students going on the Europe Trip there is a parent meeting tonight via Zoom. Please remind your adults and see Mrs G or Mrs Stopa if you’re unable to attend. 

 

  1. Pancake breakfast tomorrow morning in the atrium. Bring your appetites! 

 

  1. Attention all Grade 11 and 12 students...University of Alberta will be presenting today at 12:15 in the library. There will be an announcement to invite interested students down. 

 

  1. A reminder for the Sr. Girls vball team to get your permission forms into Mr. Burns’ mailbox and pay Ms. Wilkie in the office by tomorrow. 

 

  1. Grade 10 students – please return your signed Career Fair permission form to your Block A teacher as soon as possible  

 

  1. CLC students – need volunteer hours? Come see Mrs. Burns about some upcoming opportunities in the school
