- The junior field hockey team took home the title of Zone Champions at their tournament this past Saturday. The team defeated Princess Margaret and Summerland #2 by scores of 2-0 to finish first in their pool. The team played Pen Hi to a scoreless tie during regulation play, which lead to the most exciting moments of the weekend as they competed in their first ever shootout. With rookie goalie Sarah Saysomsack stepping UP into a new role, the game ended in a 3-0 victory and sent the Hornets to the final game where they defeated Summerland 1 by a score of 2-0. Congratulations to both goal tenders, Sarah Saysomsack and Nicole Le Boutillier, on their shutouts, to all the Hornet goal scorers, and to the “glue” that held the team together in the middle: Lilah Smith and Hugo Pickell.
- The grade 8 volleyball teams travelled to Vernon over the weekend to compete in the Monster Mash Tournament. The girls team started Friday’s round robin action securing two wins against Charles Bloom and the host team VSS. The girls unfortunately lost their third match against Rutland secondary securing 2nd place in their pool. This set up a playoff match up against Kalamalka High on Saturday. The girls got off to a hot start defeating Kal in straight sets. In the quarter final, they competed against a strong Valleyview team from Kamloops falling in straight sets. In the relegation rounds, the girls played some of their best volleyball this season again defeating Charles Bloom Secondary and Vernon Secondary to secure 5th place overall! Well done, Hornets!
- Tomorrow morning the senior field hockey team departs for the Provincial Championships in Victoria. WE wish this Hornets crew the very best of luck at their big event!!
