  1.  It’s Spirit Halloweek Backwards hat day Thursday and pajama day Friday. 

 

  1. Reminder of Early Dismissal today.  classes are out at 11:57. 

 

  1. Snack Shack is open every day! Come on down for a snack between A & B block! 

 

  1. Do you know how to apply for university or college? There will be tutorials on Tuesday November 8th and 15th to show you the tools needed to apply. Sign-up sheets are on the counselling window by the breakfast cart.  

 

  1. The grade 8 girls volleyball team travelled to Summerland for games against Skaha Lake Middle School and Summerland Middle School last night. The girls swept Skaha in straight sets then battled out a three-set victory against Summerland to keep their undefeated season going! Way to go hornets!  

 

  1. The senior field hockey team conquered their fears and fought hard to win to two big games at the Valley Championships yesterday and bring back the Valley trophy to SOSS. The Hornets won both their games in regulation time, and avoided shootouts for the first time in quite a few years. Anabel Lefebrve and Kate Noftle scored the big goals for SOSS. Great job Hornets!! 

 

  1. The junior girls volleyball Yellow team had an exciting weekend in our Hornets Invitational volleyball tournament where they competed particularly well on Saturday. Tomorrow they play their first home games of the season. Matches start at 4pm in the main gym. Come support our Hornets!! 

 

  1. Okanagan College is hosting their Open House  today October 26th from 5:30-7:30 in Penticton. This is an opportunity to speak with Professors, Education Advising, and Financial Aid and Awards.  Applications will be FREE if you attend, and you can enter a draw to win $500 towards your tuition.  

 

  1. Sr. Girls vball team travel to Kelowna today. Bus leaves at 2:30 and meet by the phys ed office. 

 

  1.  Do you like samosas?  If you do, you are in for a treat on Thursday.  The senior girls field hockey team will be selling samosas at lunch this Thursday in the atrium.  Come on out for a tasty lunch and support the team in their fundraising efforts.    

 

  1. Gr 8 Boys Volleyball – The Gr 8 Boys Volleyball team continued league play last night at Skaha Lake Middle School. The Hornets had a slow start losing the first set but rallied to come back and defeat the dreaded Sharks in 3 straight sets. Good work boys! This weekend the Grade 8 Boys will travel to Vernon to take part in the VSS Monster Smash tournament featuring 16 boys and 20 girls teams. Good luck team!  

The 12 members of the team who are travelling to Vernon are reminded that practice is at 2:45 sharp today.  

 

  1. Anyone interested in drumming sign up in the gathering room 

 

  1. The Gr 10 and 12’s will be writing the Literacy Assessments next week. The Gr. 10’s will write on Tuesday and the the 12’s on Wednesday. A schedule will be posted on Ms. Schori’s window today and please check when and where you write. 

 

  1. Senior Field Hockey girls have a Samosa Fundraiser for Provincials tomorrow at lunch. Samosas are $3 each and you cannot use your Caf Card please bring cash and help support them in their voyage to Victoria.
