SOUTHERN OKANAGAN SECONDARY SCHOOL 

                      Tuesday May 3, 2022. 

 

1. Tonight is opening night of Sherk Jr the Musical! Presented by the OES Fine Arts Club. Tickets are $12 and available at the door or online at the Frank Venables Theatre. 

 

1. Skateboard Club is re-scheduled this week to Wednesday. We will meet in the back parking lot at 3PM for our trip to Penticton. 

 

1. Reminder to the Ultimate Team of our game this afternoon in Summerland. Please be changed and ready to board the bus by 3:00 pm.  

 

1. The Student Voice Club meets at lunch today in room 207. 

 

1. Today is homework club in the gathering room from 2:45 to 3:45 

 

1. Tomorrow is sign up day for the badminton tournament at lunch in Mr. K’s room. Find a partner and sign up together or sign up on your own and be partnered up with another competitor. All are welcome, all will be challenged. 

 

1.  Golf team... we leave for Princeton today at 10:30 am from the front of the school. 

 

1. Starting next Monday at lunch, a fun two-person pickleball tournament will begin. Anyone interested in entering must get their two-person team into Mrs. McIntyre this week. You can find her in room 118 or send her a message on Teams. Tournament play will happen in the big gym on Mondays and Wednesdays at lunch for the rest of the month. 

 

1. It’s YOUTH WEEK, and every day at lunch, there will be guest presenters in the Atrium from different community groups to share about their programs. Every day at lunch in the Atrium, you can chat with someone either from Oliver Parks and Rec or The Boys and Girls’ Club.  They will have information about activities, employment opportunities, resources and there will be some giveaway/swag items at lunch in the Atruim. 

 

1. Is Europe or Eastern Canada on your bucket list? Ever dreamed of visiting Montreal, or Paris and the beaches of Normandy? A history-based Europe trip and one to Eastern Canada are being planned for spring of 2024. These trips are open to students who are currently in Grade 9 and 10 – the future seniors of SOSS! If you’re interested, there will be an information meeting on Wednesday at lunch in Mrs. Stopa’s classroom.

 

1. For any students 16 and older, there is drop-in soccer every Tuesday at 6pm at the top field. It is running tonight, so if this interests you come out and have some fun! 

 

1. Today in the Caf it is Turkey Club Sandwiches with Roasted Beet Salad and Chicken Gnocchi Soup.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT SOSS a reminder that link-crew is hosting an enchanted garden dance on Thursday May 5th, these are your last three days to purchase a ticket for 7$ at lunch outside of the zen den! remember you must attend both of your scheduled classes on thursday in order to attend. entrance will be at the back of the school by the science labs, with a bag and coat check! we’ve sold a 160 tickets so far! this is going to be a great opportunity to come out enjoy yourself and support your school community! link crew wants to see you all there so buy your tickets fast!
