SOUTHERN OKANAGAN SECONDARY SCHOOL

  1. Today is homework club in the gathering room from 2:45 to 3:45 

 

  1. Today in the Caf it is Pizza Day and Friday will be Japanese Ramen Noodles and Poutine. 

 

  1. Ultimate Practice today @ 3:00 – 4:30. Players, please remember to bring money for shorts! 

 

  1. Attention SOSS!! The OES Fine Arts club is presenting Shrek Jr. The Musical! This fun-filled performance takes place at the Frank Venables Theatre May 3rd, 4th and 5th at 7pm. Get your tickets either online or at the Frank Venables Box Office. All tickets are 12$. You do not want to miss this show! 

 

  1. The SOSS Enchanted Forest Dance is on Thursday, May 5th. Tickets are $7 and are being sold at lunch in front of the Zen Den. A Reminder that you must attend all of your classes that day in order to be allowed to attend. 

 

  1. Attention Grads if you want to go to Dry Grad you MUST sign up!! the sign-up sheet is posted at the Counselling office.  

  

  1. Grads, the scholarship deadlines are getting closer! We have a new bursary application from the Oliver Elks club on Teams and in the office. Let’s get those applications into Mrs. Koffler before the deadline! 

 

  1. Next week is Youth week and we are partnering with Oliver Parks and Rec. There will be displays and visitors each day with information for students about activities, employment opportunities, resources and some giveaway/swag items. They will be in the Atrium at lunch. 

 

  1. Wednesday May 5th is Red dress day, a day to honour murdered and missing Indigenous women and girls. Everyone is encouraged to wear red. If you would like to donate a red dress please bring it by the gathering room  

 

  1. This Friday is the first double ball practice! Students who are interested in playing in the district tournament are encouraged to come out. We will meet at the gathering room and then head to the field to play  

 

  1. Listen up grade 8, 9, 10 and 11 students...we are hoping to set up a grade 8 buddy system for next year. If you are interested in helping to create this program and to be a buddy to our incoming grade 8’s, please come to a meeting in Room 117 next Monday, May 2nd at lunch. See Ms. Seymour or Ms. Smith with any questions. PS...there will be snacks! (Thurs-Mon please) 

 

  1. Gr 10 Numeracy Assessment runs today at 12:05 in rm. 124 for all the Gr. 10, 11 and 12’s who have missed previous writings. Please check with the office or look on the list outside the fishbowl to see if you’re writing. 
     
  1. Moose Hide Campaign is on May 12th. The Indigenous Advocates will be coming around to the classes on Monday May 2nd to speak about the day and to hand out pins. The moosehide campaign is about bringing awareness to the Domestic Abuse that occurs toward Women in Canada. We encourage everyone to wear their Moosehide pins with pride on May 12, or year-round.
