SOUTHERN OKANAGAN SECONDARY SCHOOL

1. Art Club after school today in the art room. 

 

1. Homework club is cancelled today  

 

1. Late bus runs today, pick up is at 4:45 and goes to OK Falls. 

 

1. The Sr. Boys Basketball team played in the valley championships this weekend at Westsyde in Kamloops. The boys had a slow start to their first game and ended up losing to Seaton. After that, the boys got fired up and beat both Fulton and Kalamalka to get them to the consolation final against George Elliott. It was a tough match up and the boys were trailing by 1 point with 40 seconds left in the game. SOSS put up 5 shots missing them all. But with 1 second left, Joey Khangura put up one last shot, scoring before the buzzer. The boys and the crowd went wild after the shot. This win has guaranteed them a spot in the Provincial championship tournament in Langley in March. Way to go boys and good luck at provincials! 

 

1. Hornet Spirit Day! – Hey SOSS Staff and Students let's show our Hornet Pride and wear our green and gold on Wednesday as we send off the Gr 8 Girls and Boys Basketball teams to the provincial championships in Abbotsford. Go Hornets!! 

 

1. Double Ball and Stick Games district tournaments are coming up! Sign up and information is outside the Gathering Room, all are welcome! 

 

1. Indigenous Leadership meeting in gathering room at 10:40 

 

1. Would the following students please come to the library as they were Legion Award winners: Riya Chahal, Laura Lynn Venables, Jordyn Nelson, Heera Buttar, Kyra Linders, Maya Baerg, Mannat Panaich and Ari Kendrick. Congratulations to all winners. 

 

1. Today in the Caf it is Grilled Cheese with Cesar Salad and Creamy Chicken noodle Soup. 

 

1. Now for a special announcement for all staff of SOSS... Ms. Scott you have been voted off the island.  

 

1. Hey SOSS – the musical production of Oliver! Is approaching quickly.  Tickets are now on sale and are available here at SOSS in the library.  The production is March 10-12.  Get your tickets soon! It is going to be an amazing show! 

 

1. Grad photos will take place in Room 122 in the Tech Building all this week. Please be sure to arrive at least 10 minutes early for your appointment. Before leaving room 122, record your height on the list by the door. We need accurate heights to order your grad gowns!! 

 

1. Attention Indigenous Grads, there will be a meeting on Friday at lunch in the gathering room. We will have a guest coming in to talk about opportunities for people that still need volunteer hours. Lunch will be provided.  

 

1. There will be Jr. Boys volleyball meeting at lunch today to discuss uniforms and sweatshirts in room 907 

 

1. Grade 8 Boys bball practice today 4:30-6 in the big gym.
