SOUTHERN OKANAGAN SECONDARY SCHOOL 

 WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 13TH, 2019 

1. Grade 8 Boys Basketball – All boys in Gr 8 interested in playing Gr 8 Boys Basketball are invited to the first practice of the year today from 4:30-6 in the main gym. See Mr. Podmorow if you have any questions. 

1. Gr 8 Girls Basketball – All girls in Grade 8 who are interested in playing Gr 8 Girls Basketball are asked to attend a brief but important information meeting today at 12:45 in the library. Spread the word and be at the meeting! 

1. The Grade 8 Girls Volleyball Team competed in the Southern Okanagan Regional Playoffs last night in Osoyoos. The girls finished 4th place overall this year after a tough 3 set loss to Skaha Lake Middle School in the Bronze Medal Match. Overall, the girl’s season was a huge success. Way to go Hornets!  

1. The Grade 8 Boys Volleyball team concluded their season last night in Keremeos. The Hornets beat Holy Cross and were defeated in straight sets by Keremeos and Skaha to finish 4th in the playoff tournament. Congratulations on a good season!! All members of the team are reminded to turn in their washed uniforms to Mr Baptiste by Friday. 

1. Student Voice Athletics will be starting it’s 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament today at lunch time. Game 1 starts at 12:45pm (Snipers vs. Team 5) and Game 2 starts at 1:03 (GGB’s vs. Team 4). Please check the schedule outside the PE office for future game times and team rosters.  

1. SAGA (The Sexuality and Gender Alliance) is meeting in Ms. Shione’s room at lunch today to start decorating for Christmas! Everyone is welcome! Come help spread the festive cheer! 

1. Grads, don’t forget that your meat and flower orders are due this Friday, Nov 15. 

1. In the Caf today it’s Lasagna and Italian Sausage & Gnocchi Soup and tomorrow will be Roast Beef with Yorkshire pudding.   

1. Tickets for the Talent Show are on sale this week!  The show is November 20th at 7pm in and tickets are only 5$. 

1. Reminder to all Talent Show Participants, you must be at dress rehearsal at 3pm on November 19 in the theatre. 

1. All grade 9 students please remember to get your immunization forms signed and brought back to the office. 

1. The Girls Can Talk Club is having a meeting today after school at 3:00 to discuss their field trip to the South Okanagan Women In Needs Society in Ms. Shione’s room.
