 SOUTHERN OKANAGAN SECONDARY SCHOOL 

MONDAY NOVEMBER 4TH, 2019 

 

  1. Congratulations to the Junior Volleyball Girls for having a successful final tournament. The girls played their best volleyball of the season finishing the tournament in 4th place. Well done team! 

 

  1. Congratulations to the Sr Girls Volleyball team who repeated as champions of the Rattler Rumble tournament this weekend in Osoyoos. Tonight at 5pm the Hornets host Princess Margaret in the South Zone semi-final. The winner of this match will go on to play Summerland for first play in the South Zone on Wednesday and the Valley Championships November 15th/ 16th . Come out and cheer on your Hornets! 

 

  1. The Grade 8 Girls Volleyball will be hosting games in the gymnasium after school tomorrow at 4:00. Come out and cheer the girls on. Go Hornets!  

 

  1. The senior girls field hockey team leaves first thing tomorrow morning for Provincial Championships in Victoria. The Valley Champions face six tough games there , and we wish them the best of luck as they represent SOSS.  

 

  1. Student Voice Athletics will be running a 3 on 3 Basketball tournament starting Tuesday November 12th at lunch time in the gymnasium. Sign up for teams will be on the bulletin board outside the PE office and will be available until Friday. Teams must have 4 players to sign up.  

 

  1. A reminder to the RECON team that we have our second observation night this Tuesday and it is a much better time in the early evening. We will be meeting at the school at 4:30pm afterschool. 

 

  1. Any Grade 9 and 10 boys interested in playing Junior boys basketball, try-outs are tomorrow, Tuesday November 5 at 7pm in the Main Gym.  

 

  1. Grade 11 students, listen up...The Numeracy Assessment is coming up for all grade 11 students and any grade 12’s who have not yet written it. We will be writing Nov 6 or 7 and the lists for which day you will be writing are listed on the fishbowl. The assessments will be done in the computer labs, so please pay attention to what room you will be working in as well as what day you will be completing the numeracy assessment. Please see Ms. Smith with any questions .

 

  1. Grads, don’t forget to pick up your meat and flower fundraising sheets from the office! Remember that every item you sell your grad fees will go down! Due date for orders is Nov 15. 

 

  1. In the Caf today it is Cobb Salad and Chicken Wild Rice Soup and tomorrow will be Beef Dip Sandwiches and Corn Bacon Chowder. 

 

  1. Poppies are available in the office by donation.  

 

  1. Late Bus today.  Pick-up is at 4:45 in front of the school, Glee Club today at lunch in Drama room. 

 

  1. Student Voice meeting on Wednesday at lunch in room 105. 

 

  1. All Grade 9 students – you will receive an Immunization Consent form in Block A today. Please have it signed and brought back to the office.  

 

  1. Art club is cancelled tomorrow after school and next Tuesday November 12th. There will be an alternate session on Nov. 13th.
