SOUTHERN OKANAGAN SECONDARY SCHOOL 

     WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 23RD, 2019 

 

  1. This year’s musical production is Legally Blonde.  Come to the Drama room today at lunch to find out about the show, how to audition and what to expect.   

 

  1. Students involved in the RECON project, please go see Mrs. McIntyre today or tomorrow to give her your contact information for our first night out with the telescope. 

 

  1. There are still students looking for math and science tutors, and we are hoping that a few of our more senior students will volunteer their services! Students who are willing to earn volunteer hours, and gather valuable experience as a math and science tutor, please contact Ms. Gabel in the counselling office. 

 

  1. Today in the Caf it is California Prawn Salad and tomorrow there is no service as it is Early Dismissal.  Reminder to all students that Friday is a Pro-D Day and there is no School. 

 

  1.  A Halloween Classroom Decorating Contest is being held this year in Block A for those who wish to participate.  Judging will take place in Bl. A on Oct. 31st and the winning class will receive a pizza lunch!   

 

  1. The Grade 8 Girls Volleyball Team travelled to Princeton last night for games. The girls split sets with the home team rebels in their first game then picked up their effort winning their second and third matches against KVR and Summerland Middle Schools. Way to go Hornet’s! Remember there is practice today after school.  

 

  1. The senior field hockey team played excellently on Monday, winning both of their playoff games and advancing to the Valleys on the weekend in Kelowna. Reminder to the Junior girls of their playday this afternoon on the top field.  

 

  1. We are asking that you be the “I” in KIND.  Take your pictures at the KIND poster at the front entrance, and post them to the SOSSS Instagram page. 

 

  1. It’s almost Halloween!  Time for our annual SOSS Dress Up Day and Costume Contest.  Halloween is next Thursday, Oct. 31.  Let’s see how much school spirit we have – dress up and be involved in the fun.  There will be a costume parade, judges and prizes for the best individual costume, the best duo costume and the best best group costume.  Can’t wait to see everyone dressed up!   

 

  1. The Girls Can Talk Club fundraised $362.60 from their bake sale for the Women’s Penticton Shelter. Thank you to everyone who donated! 

 

  1. SAGA is cancelled today but will resume next week! 

 

  1. Senior Boys Volleyball last home game is tonight at 5:30.   Come on out and support the team!!
