SOUTHERN OKANAGAN SECONDARY

  1. Alive After 5 is coming to SOSS next week. Grade 10 students will attend one of two sessions with the guest speaker Grade 10 Students are asked to check the Alive After 5 Schedule on the Fishbowl by the office. Please go to your First and second block classes for attendance, then head to the library for your scheduled session. 

 

  1. Student Voice monthly meeting will be next Wednesday at lunch in room 104. Be prepared to share what you have done so far and what your next steps are. If you have any questions, please see your mentor teacher or Ms. Smith or Mrs. Harrington. 

 

  1. Indigenous Grade 12 Students – there will be a meeting and lunch today in the gathering room at lunch hour. 

 

  1. Reminder that Monday is Orange Shirt Day, wear something orange to raise awareness and stand in solidarity with Residential School Survivors. 

 

  1. Attention grads – please get your quotes into Mrs. McVicar no later than Wednesday October 3rd or the photography class will make one up for you. 

 

  1.  Today in the Caf it is Pizza Day and Monday will be Gourmet Hot Dogs and Red Pepper Corn Chowder. 

 

  1. Any students who have not received their pictures yet, please pick them up in the office.  Pictures are due September 30. 

 

  1. The first Grade 8 Chopped Challenge took place yesterday and boy was it a tight race. This was one of the most creative, high energy and fun challenges Mrs. Frank has ever seen, and the winner has been chosen!  The winners are....Lavreen Deol, Kim Espinoza Rivas, Hasnoor Tung and Jasmeet Sandhu. Congratulations and a big thank you goes out to our judges Ms. Laver, Mrs. Seminoff and Miss Baptiste!
