SOUTHERN OKANAGAN SECONDARY SCHOOL  

Tuesday December 5, 2023 

 

1. The Student Voice Club meets at lunch today in Ms. Laver’s room, 208.  We’ll be working on plans for a Christmas activity and the Pep Rally. New members are always welcome to join the club. 

 

1. Today in the Caf it is Pork and Beef Tacos and tomorrow will be Poutine and Chicken Noodle Soup. 
     

1. D&D Club this week: today after school and Thursday after school. Confirm with your DM! Mr. Johnson’s group meet after school today in Room 108. 

 

1. This Wednesday will be the last practice day for pickle ball and then we will start games. You and your partner can sign up as a team this Wednesday at lunch or find Mrs. McIntyre anytime this week. These games will run every Wednesday at lunch for the remainder of the semester and will culminate in the winning team being named school pickle ball champions.  

 

1. There is a Grade 8 basketball game today after school in Penticton. Grade 8 Girls and Boys teams, please meet outside the main gym immediately after the bell to leave on the bus.

1. Could all leadership students and all basketball players in gr 10-12 boys and girls meet in the gym for a quick meeting regarding a leadership opportunity.  

 

1. Dodge ball playoff start today. #1 SGPQ play Big Baller Clan, in Game 2 its Chicicabas vs DDD 

 

1. Any grade 10-12 students interested in learning more about what post-secondary life is like are invited to attend a ZOOM presentation in Room 109B at lunch on Friday, Dec. 8. Amy is an SOSS grad and is currently attending Selkirk College in the Rural medicine program. She will talk about her experience, answer questions and share advice on how to get ready for college or university life. 

 

1. Grade 12’s - check your Teams. New volunteer opportunities listed. 

 

1. More outdoor club news!  If you’re in grade 8 or 9 and are interested in a winter adventure on the afternoon of December 14th, please see Mr. Willms for a permission form. 

 

1. Chess and Scrabble club every Thursday at lunch time in Learning Support Room 103.
