  1. Today in the Caf it is Palak Paneer, Rice and Dahl and tomorrow will be Schwarma Wraps, Greek Salad and French Onion Soup. There is a suggestion box in the cafeteria! Please fill out a comment card for a chance to win a free lunch! 

 

  1. Okanagan College Penticton Campus is hosting an Open House tomorrow from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. This is an opportunity for prospective students to speak with Professors, Education Advising, and Financial Aid and Awards.. Attendees can apply to any open OC program (Fall 2024 and Winter 2025) for FREE! Attendees can also enter into the draw to WIN a $500 tuition fee voucher. 

 

  1. Art club after school today in the art room. 

 

  1. Boys soccer is cancelled today and stay tuned about tomorrow. 

 

  1. The Jr Boys Volleyball team travelled to Merritt for the Panther Invitational tournament this past weekend. The Hornets had a very bumpy Friday going 0 and 3 in their first matches. On Saturday, the boys brought a much more consistent effort to the court and won 2 out 3 matches to win the consolation side and finish 5th out of 8 teams. The boys are reminded that there is practice today at 4:30. 

 

  1. The Jr girls travelled to Osoyoos this past weekend for the Jr. Rattler tournament.  The girls went undefeated and won all of their games throughout Friday and Saturday to bring them to the final match against OSS.  They played a very strong game but unfortunately lost to OSS.  Congratulations to the Jr girls as they finished 2nd out of 10 teams.  They have a hone tournament this weekend on Friday and Saturday, come on out to support your Hornets! 

 

  1. The Grade 8 girls’ volleyball team hosted teams from around the valley this weekend for their first tournament. All players had equal court time and the improvement from their first game to the final was enormous. The team really gelled this weekend and after a 3-1 showing in the round robin, the girls won their semi-final match to play in the final. They lost a close one to Meritt Secondary School in the final but showed excellent energy and spirit. Well done, Hornets. See you at practice at 3pm. 

 

  1. There will be a brief meeting in Mrs. Burns office Tuesday at the beginning of lunch for any grade 10, 11 or 12 students who are interested in working with Ms. Kingsfield to organize and volunteer their time to host a Christmas craft making event for kids and their families at the public library. Please see Ms. Kingsfield for more information if you’re not able to make it to the meeting. This is a great way to get volunteer hours for grad  

 

  1. The Student Voice Club meets on Tuesdays at lunch. The club welcomes new members that are interested in building community and school spirit at SOSS. Bring your lunch to room 207 tomorrow to find out more! 

 

  1. If you have any song suggestions for the announcements, please send Mrs. Wolfe a message on teams or come see her in the library. 

 

  1. Reminder of the Grad Committee meeting today at lunch in Room 109. The Committee will be reviewing Prom theme ideas and deciding on Generosity activities for the next few months. Anyone in the Grad class is welcome to attend. See Mrs. Burns or Mrs. Stopa if you have any questions.  

 

  1. Open parachute is starting up again, so if you would like to join a group or want more information, please see Mrs. Von Burg in the counselling room. 

 

  1. The jr field hockey played against JL Crowe and Mt. Boucherie on Saturday. They tied 0-0 vs JL Crowe and lost 6-3 vs Mt Boucherie seniors. The jrs have 2 home games this week. The first game is today at 4pm vs Summerland and on Thursday at 2:30 vs Pen High. We hope to see you out supporting today! 

 

  1. The senior hornet field hockey team hosted JL Crow in a double header on SaturdayThe hornets came out hard and fast in the first game, dominating the play the entire gameUnfortunately, all goal attempts were not successfulGame two saw the Hawks fly out with a set game planShutting down Kismet with a constant double team and buckling down on Maia Bellingan’s long hitsThe Hawks took control of the second game but thanks to Kaylee Klassen, all attempts on net were blockedThe hornets are off to the Golden Pumpkin tournament in Surrey on Wednesday where their growth will be put to the test on the turfWish them luck.     

  

  1. D&D club Tuesday at 3pm in room 108. Mr. Johnson’s and Ryders groups. New players always welcome! 

 

  1. Dodge duck dive dodge come on SOSS let's have a dodge ball league and tournament. Winners will play an all-star teacher team. Sign up by Wednesday if we don’t get enough teams, it will be cancelled. 

 

  1. Meeting in the gym at lunch for all junior boys interested in playing Basketball this year. Short so be there right away. 

 

  1. Reminder to our part-time students that there are two early dismissal days on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
