  1. Today in the Caf it is Pizza Day and tomorrow will be Chili Garlic Bread and Minestrone soup. There is a suggestion box at the cafeteria! Please fill out a comment card for a chance to win a free lunch! 

 

  1. All girls in grade 9 to 12 interested in playing basketball this year need to attend a meeting in room 104 today at lunch.  This meeting is essential 

 

  1. Okanagan College Penticton Campus is hosting an Open House on October 17 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. This is an opportunity for prospective students to speak with Professors, Education Advising, and Financial Aid and Awards.. Attendees can apply to any open OC program (Fall 2024 and Winter 2025) for FREE! Attendees can also enter into the draw to WIN a $500 tuition fee voucher. 

 

  1. On Tuesday, the Grade 8 Girls’ vball team played at home against KVR and OSS. They showed significant improvement from previous matches, and everyone made positive contributions to the team. They came up short in both matches, unfortunately. The girls have a HOME TOURNAMENT  this weekend and encourage supports to come out and cheer on your HORNETS! 

 

  1. Dodge, Duck, Dive, Dodge. You heard me right we will be having a dodgeball league then tournament. Sign up will be by the gym office. You need 8 players per team. We will have a competitive league and a rec league if teams permit. See Mr. Basso if you have any questions. (Please read til Friday) 

 

  1. Grad meeting today at lunch in Room 105. All Grads welcome to attend.  

 

  1. If you are in Grade 8 or 9, the outdoor club is starting again this fallThe next event is this coming Monday - fishing on Twin Lakes!  See Mr. Willms for permission formsThe first 22 students who submit forms will get a spot on the bus. 

 

  1. The Sr. Girls vball team hosted Summerland last night. Summerland took the match but the Hornets left their efforts on the floor. Practice tonight is at 4:30 in the OES gym with a special guest coach helping out. 
     
  1. The winning teams from last year’s Capture the Flag Spirit Day are reminded to pick up their voucher from Ms. Wilke for their free pizza today – the teams are Gavin Tite’s team and Shabaz Gill’s team.   

 

  1. Our first set of emergency drills will happen this morning 5 minutes after announcements – earthquake followed by a fire drill. Instructions have been sent to D Block teachers – please review these after announcements before the first drill.
