SOUTHERN OKANAGAN SECONDARY SCHOOL 

   WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 16TH, 2019 

 

 

  1. Skateboard club is postponed to Thursday this week. See you at three in the back parking lot. 

 

  1. Today in the Caf it is Roasted Veggie Paninis with Butternut Squash Soup  and tomorrow will be Thanksgiving Wraps with Fries & Gravy.   

 

  1.  SAGA (The Sexuality and Gender Alliance) is meeting in Ms. Shione’s room at lunch today.  Bring your lunch and come hang out. 

 

  1. Senior classes at SOSS – that’s all grade 11s and 12s - will be able to take part in our STUDENT VOTE prior to Election Day here at SOSS. The voting will take place in the school library Thursday, Oct. 17, and is open to students in grade 11 and 12. Teachers may bring their senior classes to the library that day to cast their ballot and take part in the Canadian High Schools Federal Election. 

 

  1. Attention volunteer scorekeepers for this Fridays Grade 8 Volleyball Tournament, there will be a short meeting today at the beginning of lunch in room 103.  

 

  1. The Grade 8 Girls Volleyball Team travelled to Penticton last night to compete against Skaha Lake and KVR Middle schools. The girls split sets with Skaha Lake then came on strong in their second game to beat the home KVR squad in straight sets. Great job Hornets, keep up the strong effort leading into this weekends home tournament! 

 

  1. The Grade 8 boys team travelled to Summerland yesterday to compete against KVR and Summerland Middle School. The boys came out strong playing some of their best volleyball of the season and beat both teams easily in two quick sets. Great job Hornets. 

 

  1. Greece and Italy trip 2021.  There will be a parent meeting tonightOctober 16th at 5 pm in the school library for all who are going or for any who are interested in going. 

 

  1. There is a meeting today at lunch in Ms. Laver’s room for the Student Voice group that is organizing the Halloween Decorating Contest. 

 

  1. If you are in Grade 12 and you have no volunteer hours or not enough, then we have the solution for you!  Do you like to make your friends happy? Do you like your school?  Do you like Breakfast?  The breakfast club NEEDS volunteers from 8am – 8:25am on Fridays!  See Mrs. Dahliwal ASAP!!!! 

 

  1. The Date of the SOSS Talent Show has been moved to November 20 at 7:00pm.  Auditions are Thursday.  Check your time. 

 

  1. This year’s musical production is Legally Blonde.  Come to the Drama room next Wednesday, October 23 at lunch to find out about the show, how to audition and what to expect.  See Mrs. Podmorow for more information. 

 

  1. There is a meeting today at lunch for the Student Voice group that is organizing the Halloween 

 classroom decorating contest.  Meet in Ms. Laver's room. 

 

  1. NEW AT SOSS!!!Do you like dance? Come on out to the “JUST DANCE CLUB” today (Wednesday) in the Drama room, at lunch. Bring your dance moves!!! 

 

  1. The SOSS senior field hockey team lost 3-0 to KSS yesterday, one of the provincial powerhouse teams. It was an amazing team effort, and the girls are proud of their improvement.
